The device is equipped with WAN ports – 2x Combo (Gigabit Ethernet/SFP) and 1x SFP+ (10 Gbps). The remaining 8 Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000 Mbps) ports and 1 Combo (GE/SFP) port are configured by default as LAN, switchable to WAN. Additional management ports are also provided: 1 RJ45 console port and 2 USB ports.

The router has an integrated AC power supply, with a maximum consumption of only 33 W. Integrated active cooling with left-to-right airflow is used.

High performance

The AR730 features a powerful quad-core ARM processor and 4GB of RAM. It supports a bandwidth of 6Gbps, with packet forwarding speeds of 9-25 Mbps. The device offers very high performance, especially compared to competing solutions. The router supports bandwidth balancing (load balancing), allowing it to utilize signals from multiple internet providers. Multi-fed and selective receiving technologies are used, ensuring optimized WAN connection by minimizing packet loss and latency.

Controller, switch and router in one, 2 SIC slots

The product offered combines the functionality of a high-performance router, a switch, and a water access point controller (WAC). It supports advanced IPv4 and IPv6 routing features, including RIP/RIPng, OSPF/OSPFv3, IS-IS/IS-ISv6, and BGP/BGP4+. It can manage access points and is compatible with the CAPWAP protocol. The AR730 uses a non-blocking architecture, allowing it to fully utilize port bandwidth when operating as a switch, without any component becoming a bottleneck.

In addition, the router has two SIC slots where you can use compatible cards. These are hot-swappable ports, so you can replace them at any time during operation. You can use cards with additional WAN, LAN, or LTE interfaces in these slots.

Advanced security features

The Huawei AR730 features advanced security functions that make it ideal for networks requiring high data security. The device includes a built-in firewall, supports IPS, and URL filtering. Your network is protected against various types of attacks.

You can use 802.1X, MAC address, or portal authentication for user authentication. The AR720 supports several VPN standards: IPSec VPN, GRE VPN, DSVPN, A2A VPN, L2TP VPN, and L2TPv3 VPN. This is very important in networks where external access is needed, for example, for mobile workers.
